Something happened that has never happened to me before...
I received my very first mean comment.
Initially, I was shocked...
then I laughed...
then it started to really bother me.
The part that bothered me was "exploiting your daughter" phrase.
That got me tearing up.
I thought about it all day.
When I told my husband, I realized the part that was really getting to me...
the truth part.
There was someone out there that needed those things more than us.
Plenty of someones...
So I refilled the box.
I put in things that I had been holding on to...
some new things Eva never wore...
and some toys she never touched.
You see that cute elephant?
That is a bib I was given that I never put on Eva because I thought it was too cute to get stained.
I hope someone else thinks it is cute too.
These things are going to my local YWCA Family Center.
Thank you Anonymous.
I will be gladly accepting hand-me-downs with smiles as always,
but I am going to remember to pass on the love to someone else.

What always bothered me about mean comments is that it always comes from Anonymous.
Anonymous gahhhh don't listen to a word they say. Just because they have their knickers (or boxers) in a twist about something they feel they have the right to say nasty things behind the Anon shield - sad!
I don't see hand-me-downs as charity - it's a part of growing up. I ended up banning Anon comments - I'm so easily offended
i think that anonymous could have worded her point of veiw in a different way, and i think saying you exploiting your daughter was a bit much. our household is comfortable but that is because we are also on a budget. there is always someone more needier out in the world and im sure you do your part so please dont let that comment get to you and hey all my friends pass baby gear and clothes around to each other regardless of our household incomes thats what friends do...
Nessa, I just read that comment and I'm not sure what "exploiting your daugter" has to do with getting a big ol' box of hand-me-downs, but I love the idea of filling the box back up and passing it along. You can do it again in the spring when I send you another box, this one filled with the super cute warm-weather dresses that didn't make it into this first shipment. Hug to you.
i think people post as anonymous because they know what they have to say both out of line and untrue. They just don't have the guts to put their name behind what they say. It's a bummer, really. They've been hurt somewhere along the way and feel the need to take it out on someone they've never met. it's awesome what you did to pass the box on, but don't let peeps give you guilt trips. a gift is an incredible blessing and one to be enjoyed. your blog is awesome, by the way! sorry that person was hurtful.
Ha! Go Nessa!
Good for you! That "anonymous" character was really out of line with his or her comment. Don't let them get to you too much; totally not worth it.
I saw that comment and thought it was pretty shday of someone to call you out and not have the guts to identify themselves. They must not know you at all, because there is no way anyone who knows you would ever think that about you. Congrats to you for being the bigger person.
oh my gosh, how rude was that?! it barely makes any sense in that context too. oh brother.
i got a similar comment on a picture i posted of henry with breast milk on his face, it said, "i thought child exploitation was illegal both morally and blah blah blah...how can you sleep at night?" and it really disturbed me for some time. people really can be so, so mean.
don't let it get you down, some people just have nothing better to do that sit behind a computer and rudely comment on other's wonderful lives.
anonymous is not a nice person! You're taking the high road- hold your head up :) Exploiting your daughter is the craziest thing I've ever heard.... some people just don't have anything else better to do with their time.
Take care :)
