decorator

I am not what you would consider a decorator.

Don't get me wrong, I love looking at beautiful rooms and drooling over well designed furniture and beautiful artwork.  I can imagine my finished rooms and me living in them. But when it comes to finding the pieces and making the purchases - I fail.  It is time consuming and until I am 100% sure I love it (or 90% sure and it is on major sale) I just can 't follow through.

It doesn't help me that the kids love to draw on the couch and use our side tables for amazing Donkey Kong reenactments.  At any moment our TV stand can become a Broadway stage and Mt. Everest for stranded climbers.  We have miles and miles of wall space and so many empty corners.  In fact we want to ditch our huge TV stand, but that would make the room even emptier - so it stays.

Eva has taken notice of the problem and started decorating our walls.  This little doodler is always making art and hanging them all around our house.  The installation with the cut out hearts she named "Lots of Love" and is in our bedroom.  I am really thinking it should be permanent - because I am 200% sure I will love it forever.

Lilacs

There are lilacs at the end of our driveway.
The bushes are so huge they hang over our fence until they almost touch the ground.

And then there is the smell...
it reminds me of being little and playing outside.

Running and playing...
getting so warm that you can take off your jackets.

A few branches and some canning jars make a lovely little display.

Every time I walk by, I can't help but smile...
and breath deep.
Both are good for the soul... especially while doing another load of laundry.

Coffee Table

Now that Italy is over... I can return focus to the living room decorating.

I am in love witht the idea of a round, white coffee table.
This one is out of our price range, but here are some alternatives...

Not sure if I want to clean the glass top all the time.
This one is VERY affordable.

Then there is the one that haunts my dreams... the classic - Saarinen by Knoll.

Living Room Rugs

Here are some rugs I  have been contemplating...

This reminds me of dandelions.

I like the light background of the next two...

Geometry meets color...

If I were to draw plaid, this is what it would look like...

Coveted Lighting Fixtures

In our apartment, we are not allowed to change the lighting fixtures, but if I could...

Love the modern & organic elements in these drums from Twentieth and from Jayson Home & Garden.

This spherical option from Twentieth:

And even though this isn't a fixture table lamp from MoMaStore is adorable with the umbrella shade.  How cute for a bathroom or a childs room.

Art for the living room

This is a great print.   It would live well in our living room that I feel like will never be finished.

Living Room Inspiration

Our new red couch seemed like such a great choice in our drab apartment.

Now trying to style with it is driving me insane.

Here is a room that captures the feeling I would like.

I love the blue, white and red combo here.

Still Looking for a Coffee Table

I found this great table on Etsy.  I am in love...  see it here.

Then there is this one... choices, choices, choices.
