so warm

Kiddos
It has been so warm for the last few weeks.  Weirdly warm and sunny weather deep into fall.
Two days after this photo we had some snow.
But we soaked it up while it lasted.

I can't believe it is almost halfway through November.  These 70° days make it easy to forget that we are closer to winter that summer now. All of our trees are half bare, including our gigantic magnolia.  Luckily we have a lot of help getting the leaves raked up and to the curb.

Watching these three is one of my favorite things.  They do so much together now.  Eva and Theo are  constantly hatching plans and working together.  They still have their dust-ups, but more often they work together pretty well - especially since they have learned that tag-teaming the parents is effective and beneficial to both of them.

And then there's Helena.  Watching them continually and joining the mix when ever she can.  She loves get in the middle of what they are doing, and sometimes that actually means she walks up and stands right between them, in their way, until they have to notice her.  She copies whatever they are doing and follows them wherever they go.

Thick as thieves these three and we parents are outnumbered.

Fall

Fall is here and it really has felt like it has been hanging on the fringes for a awhile.  With such a cool summer - it never seemed that far away.  Eva and Theo really don't like being out and about in the evening in the dark.  Eva thinks we have stayed out too late and Theo is kinda scared.  Funny how they forget.  We are all excited for pumpkins, trick-or-treating and the leaves changing color.  Eva thinks they should be this way all the time - it would be gorgeous.

Pumpkin patch.

Eva found some baby pumpkins.
Then found her size and gave it hugs because...
I love punkins, mommy.

Theodore tolerated us propping him up here and there.
Our little bald old man.

Big sister hugs and counting his toes.

There were homemade donuts.
Apple cider goodness...
We saved them until after dinner.

They were amazing.
I thought about stealing Eva's ...
I didn't - just barely controlled myself.

I did convince her to feed mommy some bites of hers.
She is so sweet.

Leaves and Jars

Fall Leaves Drive
Dear Leaves
Please hang on tight a few more weeks.
I can't get enough of all the colors.
And then there is that smell - fall leaves smell.

Fall Windows Open
Dear Mother Nature
Thank you for all the days with windows wide open.
And please let the weather man be wrong.
He says snow next week, just in time for trick-or-treat.
Show him who is boss.

TB Baby Weight Check
Dear Slightly Chubby Baby Theodore Thighs
Because of you, we are out of the 4th percentile and rocking the 13th.
We officially have a big roll and I would love some more.

Hometown Grocery Store
Dear Hometown Grocery Store
I appreciate that you have not moved a single item since I was little.
You may have only one of everything, but you still have at least one.
If I forget something, it is only a few steps away.

Pumpkin Butter
Dear Pumpkin Butter
Where have you been all my life?
How did we miss each other in the love-of-all-things-fall-and-cinnamony?
I ate you on toast and on a waffle this morning.
Oh yeah, and straight off the spoon.

Hello

red tinged leaf web.jpg

Autumn is here.

Overnight we went from summer heat...
to sunshine with a crisp breeze and chilly nights.

I am pulling out jackets, scarves and hats.
Putting away the shorts and summer dresses today.

And I am trying to sort through all the baby clothes.
The ones that little Theodore has already growing out of...
and the baby-Eva clothes saved for him - incase he was a she instead.

So today I am surrounding myself in piles.
Letting summer sun and tiny pink rompers go...
and taking time-outs to find Eva some more red leaves for her growing collection.

Hello Autumn.

A Hike

In October you don't take nice days for granted.
They are getting to be few and far between.

Soaking them up
and enjoying the little things.

The sounds the leaves make under your feet.

Horses: Photos

We took a detour on our drive.
I think horses are magical.
Eva agreed.
