Happy: #19

DSC05676

So I have been a little bummed lately.

Not sure when it started.
It kinda crept in bit my bit.

There isn't anything wrong...
anything big really.
Just a little bit of this and that...

rainy and cloudy weather.
a lot of time by myself.
too many days stuck inside.
weekends going by too fast.

A while ago I started a list.
A list of things that I am thankful for...
or that make me happy.

It was for my study group.
It wasn't my fist time hearing this suggestion.
I just thought it was incredibly useless.

I know what makes me happy...
why write it down?

But I did it anyway.
Mainly because they gave us a journal...
and we go over it for a few minutes every week.

I always do my home work...
even if it is done in the parking lot right before class.

This morning I had it out to dry.
It was in my stroller pocket in attempt to do my homework early.
.  This aforementioned stroller received a rain bath last night.
(This did not make the list.)

I was mopping up the excess water...
and putting items on the heat register to dry.
I started reading the list...
and it clicked.

It made me smile...
just a little pick-me-up.

So I thought it would be good to share them.

but is sure nice when we do.

This photo is beautiful Nessa. I have been there dealing with all of those bummers here too. Why can't we live closer together?

I hear you on feeling down! Springtime weather will do that to a person. I love your photo and love the idea of family breakfasts. We need to do that more often! I've always heard too that even just the act of smiling can make you feel happier if you're down - it's called the "facial feedback theory" - try it, it actually works! :) :) :)

We started doing family dinners together about a year ago, before then, kids ate infront of the TV and adults at the table. It made a difference. How wonderful it would be if we could share breakfast too, instead of eating cereal bars in the car on the way to school. Something to work towards perhaps? Sunshine is ahead of us!

I LOVE family breakfasts! We don't get to do them very often either and that is what makes them all that more special. Great capture! I hope you get some sunshine soon!!

Family breakfast is pretty amazing! Shoot, breakfast is amazing! It's great to see how counting your blessings can bring you out of a funk.

Thanks for stopping by....

Leaving a journal out in the rain is so something I would do.

Having breakfast together as a family?!? Priceless!

Writing down what makes us happy... our 'gifts' is such a wonderful practice. Sure to make a person smile. I know it does that for me! And starting the day with a family breakfast... what a great thing! Stopping by from CG! :)

What a good thing to want! I loved that as a kid and now as I am out on my own I miss eating around the table with my family!

I do like having breakfast with my family. Gives us time together before we go on about our day. Sometimes it's not feasible because of my husband's job, but we try.

I really enjoy looking at your photo. I like the different point of view. Very unique!

What a wonderful idea. I definitely get down, and it can creep up on you so easily. It's important to remember all that we have to be thankful for!

Our kids are grown and gone now, but when they were still home, the BEST breakfasts as a family were the ones we made while camping and ate out doors on a picnic table.

Fun times - - - thanks for reminding me.

As a teacher I'm wondering how your professor would take the excuse "my homework got wet in the stroller." Hehehehehehe

I truly DID have a student whose dog ate his homework once.

This crappy weather certainly doesn't help with the blues. We should plan another mom's night out for when you can make it. That's sure to make you feel better.

what a fantastic post! Exactly how I feel...bummed out but not about anything in particular. Weekends are the only time we have breakfast as a family...not enough, right?

Such a great post!
I think it's the 'crazy weather' but then sometimes, the sad feeling just creeps up to anyone without warning. You may not have expected it but I am glad you got a smile out of your 'happy list' and 'breakfast as a family' is as simplistic as it is special and delightful.

LOVE this post :) I have days like that too... the "I don't really have anything to be down about I'm just down" kind of days. I've started to kind of ignore them - I call them "my body is messing with me" because I'm pretty sure it's mostly just hormonal crap - and there's not a lot I can do to change that.

Lists of thankful reminders do make it easier.
Wishing you a day of happiness and good smiles.
