God made the world round so
we would never be able to see
too far down the road.
Karen Blixen
Sometimes you path is so clear...
you know which way is up and what lies ahead.
Bags are packed and sitting my the door.
Itinerary set and retirement savings are in motion.
Mission statements and long term goals are laid out.
And then things change.
Sometimes slowly, like the disappearance of sand from the shore.
You wake up in your life realizing how far from the itinerary you are.
Looking back at your road to the present...
being in awe of the little things that brought you here.
The moments so quiet that changed your life.
Or that change that comes so fast and furious.
You feel uprooted - like a stunt double just filling in.
Shell shocked and confused, wondering if it all is a dream.
It is in these moments...
when you realize the lack of control you really have.
How much chance, luck, circumstance...
divine intervention and life in general play the director.
I have heard people say your control is in the reaction.
I think that could be true...
But I also think that life lives in the chaos.
It is in each breath...
Whether it is slow and steady like the waves on the shore...
or deep and fast... long to exhale.
It may be all about acceptance...
that most things that make life what it truly is...
are beyond our reach.
Accepting the lack of control of many things.
Double checking those bags...
and remembering to breathe.

breathe, my friend. xxoo
That's ultimately all you can do; double check and then let it go. Do your best and then just release it out into the universe. Hope you have a little peace coming your way, sweet friend.
This is really beautifully written. What often surprises me is that we seem to continually need to relearn this acceptance, the surrender. We are so easily lulled back into a sense of "it's all under control" or of thinking we can get it there. Praying for peace...
Terrific quote, and your writing is wonderful and so true.
keep breathing and keep sharing. that fog will lift and pass.
So beautiful!! It really does lie in the breaths... the little breaths we take every day. Love this :)

So true...I love the words you wrote!
"I have heard people say your control is in the reaction."
Wow. I've never heard that before...but it strikes me as profound.
Beautifully said, my friend.
