Sewing

The other day, I dusted off sewing machine.
Not just once, but twice in one day...
I sat down and put thread in fabric.

First, while Eva napped.
The second time, we were all upstairs.
Eva and her daddy were playing in her room.

I sat down to finish up a few last stitches.
Hoping I could get through this little bit before Eva noticed I was busy.

Soon, I felt little hands on my leg.
I sighed a little.
I was caught.

Eva climbed up in the chair behind me.
So much for finishing up.

I watch mommy?
Sure baby, you can watch.

She stood there, hands on my shoulders.
And I sewed on...
finishing up one piece and moving on to another.

I talked about what I was doing.
She listened.

Sewing mommy?
Yep, we are sewing.
Then, a little chin was on my shoulder.

It was one of those moments I didn't know I had been dreaming of...
until it was happening.

An ordinary moment...
that I almost sighed away.
Almost missed.

Michael picked up my camera and took some photos.
I was so happy later to find out he had.

I will never forget...
but she probably won't remember.

So glad I can show her...
her very first sewing lesson.

And another lesson for mommy...
on just relaxing and enjoying these little moments.
The best, are the ones you never expect.

Oh wow. This post made me cry. I'm sorry I don't leave more comments but I read all your posts! Often during nursing sessions. I love this momet & it reminded me how thankful I am that I had a girl :)

This is so precious! As much as I dislike watching Plum grow up, it's these kind of moments that help a lot in somehow making it okay.

I love motherhood.

So precious. I am all too guilty about being selfish with "my" time. When all our littles want are a bit of togetherness.

I think this might be one of my favorite posts ever...EVER!!! Because it's never the first step, or first word, or riding the bike, those are great, wonderful moments. But you hit the nail on the head, the moments that mean the most are the ones you never even thought of. The ordinary ones are the best. I also loved that Michael took those pictures and captured that perfect moment. {you could probably sew a cutie cute apron...}

ahhh...this made me teary. It takes me back to many, many, many priceless unplanned moments. What a great treasure to have these photos! I have a dear friend, with kids just a bit older than mine, who was so good at setting aside the tasks in favor of the little person (or including them!) and I'm so grateful she was in my life cause I'm not sure I would have been as sensitive to how important this is without her! You are shining a light as you share this moment!
