Ride

IMG_8222

Yesterday, I ran to the basement to switch a load to the dryer.
Eva-monster was playing in the living room.
I was going to be right back, and she was really into her puzzles...
so I just left her playing.

Just as I was closing the dryer door...
I heard what sounded like a 3 ton elephant come tumbling down the steps.
My heart stopped.

I flew across the basement...
and there was my monster at the bottom of the stairs.

She was sitting inside a clothes basket.
Well, half inside.

Whoa Mommy! she said.
Really?

She had rode the basket I had left at the top of the basement steps...
all the way down the stairs.

She cried for a second.
I cried for a lot longer.

It is okay mommy...
as she patted my back.

She has a little tiny black eye...
and no fear.

These photos were taken after I had finally calmed myself down enough to let her go.
And after I took her with me to the basement to grab the clean clothes.

As soon as the clothes were folded and the basket was empty...
she climbed right in.

I think she was doing a re-enactment.

and then, she {snapped}
bits of splendor mondayFindingBeautyintheOrdinary.com

Scary! I had a similar situation...I was out with my husband, son and dog for a walk and our little guy was in the sled. We were walking through some deep snow and all of a sudden the sled tipped over and dumped our 8 month old face first into the snow. It was horrifying and I felt SO bad. But he was fine after he caught his breath. If only we could protect them from everything...

Oh the stories we all could tell... so, so glad she's fine - and that you've had the time to stop the heart from pounding out of your chest. What else can I say... "B" for Basket??!!

I am glad she's ok! My children are ALWAYS trying to ride down the stairs in boxes, baskets and sleds.

Luckily they havent been hurt. They only managed to go down once and it was in the long sled so it didn't tip or anything. They had fun, I had a heart attack!!!

it's sometimes amazing how kids can avoid getting hurt. once our son was sort of catapulted down our basement stairs (which are wood and a thin carpet over cement when you get all the way to the bottom) but, he ended up being totally fine. we still talk about it sometimes, you know, what a miracle it was that he wasn't hurt.

so glad your cutie wasn't hurt!!

This sounds EXACTLY like something my 2 year old daughter would do. And my reaction would have been the same as yours. I love the pics!

They love to give us little heart attacks don't they. We've had two falls down the stairs. My heart can't handle a third. But good for her for getting right back on that horse, or laundry basket.

She's a tough cookie! Got to love the endless possibilities for play with the clothes basket. My two put it over their heads, like a caged bird, and aptly cry out, we are the run away birdies! Should get a photo of it one day.

Oh.My.Gosh.

This so sounds like something my Mia might do one day. Bella {my older daughter} would never think up or have the nerve to do such a crazy thing, but Mia? Oh Mia is going to be a different story, I can tell!

So glad she is ok :) Happens to all of us mama's, promise! Asher has done his share of crazy things too.
