My mom bought us one every year growing up... and still does.
This year, I only put the ornaments on the tree that were memory ones...
no balls, candy canes or icecycles...
I mean, remember we only have a bush sized tree...
and a grabby monster on the lurk.
Knowing that all these memories are in the boxes makes getting out the decorations so much fun..
and remembering each year by way of the ornaments.
The year I wore my first pair of glasses, my ornament was a Santa with spectacles...
this trend went for driving, braces, even being on crutches.
I have expanded this theme a little...
Michael might say by a little more than that.
I buy a few for everyone each year...
and (this is where it is tending so get a little bad)
I have started buying ornaments when we are on vacation, or on special occasions.
Yep, even in the summer...
I am "that person" who will to hunt down the weird Christmas store in June.
Here are some of my favorites...
From mom - 2004
From my mom again - 2005
From Michael went he surprised me with dinner and the Nutcracker - 2005
From Michael - 2008
For Deedle ... it says on the bottom "Deedle - ETA 2010"
You notice only 2 of these are glass...
and those two are high up by the star...
it is safer there.
I am still hunting for Eva Monster's ornament this year...
I have been looking at the "Baby's First Christmas" ones, but none of them seem appropriate.
I guess a tiny baby carriage or bottle doesn't really represent a toddling, gabbing, monstering Eva.
I have Michael's though... I think it is a good one. I would tell, but he reads this.
In other news, I shouldn't have said anything about the monster being all better...
the last two nights have been full of crying, prro eating, interrupted sleep, Motrin, Tylenol, fevers, screaming and drool.
Maybe an ornament of a tooth...
with red eyes and fangs...
that cries and screams when you press a button...
Hallmark - do you make that one??
Kinda like the opposite of this...

It is really sweet isn't it? What a cute way to say "I lost my first tooth!"
Not quite, "These teeth are torturing all of us and we surrender. Please hurry and stop the agony!"
I will keep looking.

When Joe and I were on our honeymoon we decided that we would buy an ornament from every place we ever go on vacation from that point on. We've had to get creative a few times because you can't always find ornaments, but it's great to pull them out each year and remember all the fun trips we've been on.
