Uncomplicated

Before

finally a positive test...
stretch marks...

sleepless nights...
onesies...

cheerios plastered to the floor...
tantrums...

requests for makeup...
training bras...

cute boys...
and questions about when real bras are necessary....

this was us...

In Chicago...
in the snow.

On our way back to the hotel...
after an evening of friends and theater.

No complications...
responsible for only us.

I miss that carefree life...
the ability to drop everything and take off for the weekend.

Worried about nothing...
except leaving enough food for the kitties.

Then I get a good night hug and kiss...
and requests for extra pages to read.

Girl talks about starting a new school...
and making new friends.

And before that, a baby head on my shoulder
and a "night-night" from a crib.

I realize how just being 2 was so overrated.
Being carefree can mean having less people in you life to love.

Uncomplicated isn't always lovely...
and chaos can be amazing.

Ahh, beautifully articulated. I can so relate :)

It's nice if you can find a good balance of chaos and uncomplicated - usually chaos wins! But it makes the uncomplicated moments that much more memorable. I am desperately seeking a little uncomplicated today!

I remember in college I used to think that life couldn't get any better than this...in a way it couldn't, but in a way this is sooo much better. I sleep less but I love more :)
