Unmatching and Books

IMG_7479

I always thought pillow cases should come in pairs.
So each one had a matching buddy...
one on each side of the bed in a nice little stack.

I had been gathering happy pillow cases here and there...
but I had never put them on our bed because there were no matching pairs.

I have quite a stash and couldn't stand them sitting in the closet any longer.
So I had to change my rule.

Funny how I got a bit nervous...
breaking a made-up rule.
A silly rule that no one knew about.

The bonus... now I know which pillow is Michael's.
He has a favorite and it was always getting lost.

This is my side of the bed.
Stacks of books and my reading lamp.

I decided to read all the books I owned that I had never read before.
So no new books, no library books and no borrowing books...
until I read what is on my shelves.

You wouldn't believe how many books I own that I have never read.
I put them up for later and always read the ones with a due date first.

My husband is a digital book fan...
so he needs no lamp to read at night.

He tells me all the time that I need to let go...
and realize paper books are going to be outdated soon.

Well, that just makes me sad.
I love books... the paper kind.

The ones that smell old.
The ones that have their corners turned down.

If digital books overtake the world...
they will have to take me kicking and dragging.

That looks super cute and I never thought you could break that rule either but I like it!

First off your style continues to amaze me. I love how vintage those pillow cases are. I am the same way about the unspoken matching rule.

Second, I have a kindle and had a different ereader last year, but there is nothing better than cracking the spine of a new book! I always roate between reading digital and paperback. I have a TON of non read books in my personal library too.

I adore mix and match pillowcases like this. I'll have to blog about my pile soon :)

Also - great minds must think alike, b/c I too and reading all my books that I haven't yet. Then, I think I'm going to pass many of them on and stick to borrowing/library. I love having books, but I think it's a good way to save money and pass on the blessing of a good read.

me too me too me tooooo...I like BOOKS...real ones that you can write in and on and pass on to your babies...and I still love magazines...I love reading online, but it doesn't replace a gosh darn thing for me...

Oh Nessa...! I am so much like you!... I always have an internal fight whenever my pillow cases don't match.. like somebody else on earth notices it! ... besides I am so boring that I only own plain colored ones... such as Creamy White, White, Gray... and I think I Yellow is the happier color you'd see in my bed. I guess It's time to follow your trend and mix it up a lil bit. I dream of Chevron print for my bedding, but I live in South america so that's like wanting Snow for Christmas...
also... I promise you I will take a pic of the pile of books on my bed side... and as you are probably guessing...yep! they're all books I own and NEVER readed. So they're on my 2012 Resolutions list and It's a working process...

I will never give up paper books - nevah! The same goes for magazines, it wouldn't be the same joy if I couldn't flip through them like I always have. I like your rule breaking! :-)

Real books. period. Interesting thought to read all I have before getting anything new...not sure I'm up for that challenge! And I love all the pretty pillowcases!

I don't know what I'm more infatuated with: the pillowcases or your bedside table. Amazing.

Kudos on breaking the rules and mixing up the pillow cases. Such a little thing, but I love the way it looks. Great job! Visiting from Sweet Shot Tuesday.

That looks so great! I am not daring enough to mix and match like that!

Love the mis-matched pillow cases and love that you took a photo of it. Nicely done.

My parents gave me a Kindle for my birthday this year, and I wasn't sure that I'd like it...but it turns out that I do.

Right after I got it, somebody told me that reading digital books doesn't have to replace "real" books--it's just another handy tool for being able to read more often. And it's true--it *is* easier to cart around my Kindle than a huge 800 page novel in my purse, and I do think I read more often because of it!

PS- My Shabby Apple necklace arrived, and I love it!
