3 months.
Mr. Theodore

Things have been up and down this last month.
I guess that is the case with all little ones.

We have been seeing lots of grins and smiles.
You are so very close to a laugh, and I can't wait to hear it.

You are eating between every 1-3 hours during the day.
You take a big nap right after dinner and eat a dreamy snack at around 8:00 p.m.
You wake up again at around 2:00 a.m. starving and again at about 5:00 a.m.

Most of the time you go right back to sleep.
But the last few days, I think your tummy is bothering you...
so we are up bouncing in the wee hours of the night.

You crave contact with people.
You sleep better when you are touching someone.
Sometimes, that is the only way to get you to sleep.

That means many nights you end up sleeping on me.
And most of your naps have been while strapped or wrapped in a carrier.

With your sister, I would have worried about it becoming a habit...
and fought to change it.
But now, I know that this phase is short.
We have plenty of time for you to get used to sleeping alone.

You still hate the car.
This is one of the hardest things for me.
With family an hour away and activities all the time, we are in the car often.
This means that you cry a lot, and I really hate that.

Outside the car, you are a really happy guy.
You have started talking, cooing and chattering all the time.
You big blue eyes searching out anyone to listen to your voice.

This morning and afternoon were tough ones.
We met your Aunt Cristy for lunch
and you cried half the way there and the whole way home.

You have finally fallen asleep after a bunch of bouncing and soothing.
You slept in the swing just long enough for me to take a few photos...

After a scream and a few soothing bounces, you are back asleep in my lap.
I love how my voice and touch can make you calm.

Just holding you, a little hush-hush and all is right in your world.
If it could only stay that simple.

So I am soaking up your clinginess and I swear I can see you grow right before my eyes.
Love you,
Mommy

Ah! I have been exactly the same this time with my 4mo! So many things I cared about doing "right" with Laura I just haven't cared about with Gavin. He'll be just fine, and sleep is precious!

I love your perspective on sleep this go around. With Noah, I was the same way. I was pushing to change his sleep patterns...get him used to being in his own bed. Now? I realize that he's going to be grown soon enough. Too big to snuggle, soon enough. So all is fine when it comes to things like that. On a different note, he HATED the car, too. Absolutely hated it. Then, when he got big enough to move to a convertible seat and could sit up and see what was going on, he was fine.

I wish I could get back tiny baby Carter for just a few more snuggle sessions. Thankful to have learned how precious those moments are and to not let them go to waste with #2 :) love your writing friend. You are very wise and such an awesome mommy xoxo

Friend! I have just had time to sit down for more than 10 minutes and catch up with you and life! I cannot believe the little mister is already 3 months old! My how the time flies!

Isn't that funny how we are so concerned with the first kiddo, and then realize how time flies and we let so much more go. I tell you I would trade weaning a 5 year old out of my bed in return for baby snuggles again. They are soothing for Mommies too. He is precious.

I can't imagine the stress you must feel when you have to get in the car. I'm so thankful that all the girls were soothed by car rides. And I seriously loved having AJ fall asleep on me. I would just relax and take a rest too. Sounds like you have it covered, and I think it's wonderful how you are just going with the flow this time around. Hugs to you.
