Dinner

dinner

We never used to eat at the table.
Maybe once or twice on a very special anniversary night.

Even when we had people over...
you would probably find us - guests and all - on the living room floor.

Most nights we ate while we watched TV.
Jeopardy was our go-to show.

Eating dinner at the table was always something we wanted to do...
but just never did.

Our dining room table saw more laundry, mail, quilt pieces, wrapping paper...
than it ever saw plates and food.

That was before.
Before the monster.

When Eva started eating in her high chair we started eating with her...
at the table.

At first it was just dinner.
Slowly, it has became every meal, every day.

I even started setting the table.
It feels nice to have the table set...
makes it feel special.

Really special...
so long as you ignore today's mail and the diaper bag.

They still call the dining table home...
just pushed to the far end.

Nessa, we have done the same thing now with the Ellie. Place mats and everything; it is sweet. Btw, your dinner looked delicious.

Us too- we have made a concerted effort to eat at the table and to say grace before meals...and I love how Lizzy is starting to know and request that we eat there. Sweet family moments!

And that meal? Looks delicious!

i adore cloth napkins and use then at every meal-makes even the simple menus extra nice;)

We bought a dining room table last november for just this reason. Every now and then we use it. Mostly for a nice dinner or when Paul brings us lunch on his break, or when we are just so sick of the TV being on. I want to do it more. I'm glad you guys are. Love this post!

Dinner looks delish. Some of our favorite moments of the day are sitting down and eating together.

This is such an important part of family values and paving the way for good family communication around the table when children are older. We now sit together every night...some nights the TV is on...sometimes it's off, but regardless it's family time.
